Midnight Storm did not begin as the polished classic seen at shows today. Larry took the 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air down to its foundation and completed a painstaking frame-off restoration, rebuilding the car with patience, skill and a clear vision for what it could become.
From the bare body and stripped cabin to the restored frame, drivetrain and finished interior, each stage reflects the kind of hands-on craftsmanship that has defined Larry's lifelong connection to classic cars.
When the work was complete, Larry gave Midnight Storm to his son and daughter-in-law, Guillermo and Teresita Martinez—turning a restoration into a family legacy meant to be driven, shown and enjoyed.
The restoration
Rebuilt from
the frame up.
Larry's work began beneath the surface. The body came off, the cabin was stripped, and the frame became the foundation for Midnight Storm's return to the road.
The Bel Air's body was stripped down so the structure could be assessed and rebuilt properly.
Mounted on a rotisserie, the body could be inspected and worked from every side.
The trunk and rear body were opened up for the same careful attention as the exterior.
Old finish and corrosion were worked back as the Bel Air's lines were prepared for their new life.
The restored frame and running gear brought the project back to life from the ground up.
Mechanical components were carefully fitted to the refinished chassis.
The dashboard, insulation and wiring came together as the cabin took shape again.
